Monarc Gaming Labs is seeking a Lead Back-End Engineer to lead and mentor the back-end engineering team, and design and develop scalable middle-tier and back-end infrastructure using Node.js and MongoDB. Individual will apply advanced computer science and engineering principles and concepts to perform the following duties:
- Utilize Node.js and MongoDB for server-side scripting for middle-tier and back-end infrastructure.
- Write well-architected code in a Test Driven Development environment.
- Write and execute test cases using Mocha unit testing framework.
- Use Istanbul (code coverage tool) to ensure complete code-coverage.
- Apply knowledge of Socket.io (real-time bidirectional event-based communication library) based client-server communication to ensure that the round trip delay goals are maintained.
- Manage all database changes between various environments.
- Build internal tools such as CMS and CRM using AngularJS and jQuery (front-end JavaScript frameworks), and LESS backed by Node.js and MongoDB.
- Manage automated deployment and maintenance of Amazon Web Services infrastructure using Chef/OpsWorks.
- Monitor servers (Amazon EC2 instances) through Amazon Cloudwatch.
- Deploy a distributed Jenkins environment for continuous integration/automated server builds.
- Supervise the work of lower level Back-End Engineers, adhering to best practices to ensure optimized performance and maintainable code, both in the application code and database.
As assigned, perform other duties normal to this occupation.
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or any related field that provided the required knowledge and abilities, and three (3) years of related experience that provided the required skills and abilities.
Position requires demonstrable experience and proficiency with the following:
- Front-end JavaScript frameworks.
- MongoDB.
- Amazon Web Services.
- Real-time bidirectional event-based communication libraries.
- Unit testing frameworks.
- Server-side scripting.
- Automated server builds.
Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable. The term, suitable, in this context, means substantial compatibility with stated academic level and job experience requirements, and ability to perform job duties. No travel or telecommuting.
